At the Annual General Meeting, it is noted that the association has fulfilled its objective. The following changes are therefore decided:

• The association structures are to be reduced to a minimum
• The association should continue to operate independently at least until the warranty periods for open and hidden defects for all realised infrastructures have expired
• The members of the association should be asked to leave the association
• The Board resigns with the exception of Felix Howald, the Chairman, and René Fischer
• The foundation board members of the Lucerne – Rotsee Rowing Centre Foundation are elected as additional new board members
• Cédric Habermacher passes over the management to René Fischer.

After a renovation phase, the Urs Fankhauser Lounge, formerly the transmission centre, is inaugurated at the finish area on the occasion of the Swiss Championships.

The Rotsee Nature Arena Association would like to offer the public the opportunity to view the new infrastructure and get a first-hand impression of the Rotsee Nature Arena.

The goal is achieved: the Rotsee Nature Arena is officially opened with a festive ceremony attended by around 180 guests.

The dismantling of the old rowing centre began on Monday, 13.07.2015, directly after that year’s World Cup final.

Preparatory construction work for the new rowing centre started at the beginning of March. The other measures for the overall renovation of the Naturarena was tackled at the same time.

All building permits for the overall renovation of the Rotsee nature arena were issued at the end of the year and are legally binding now that the appeal periods have expired. The timetable for realisation is ambitious. The new rowing centre should be ready for use by the 2016 regatta season. At the same time and with great consideration for nature and local recreation, the upgrading of the paths, squares and shoreline zones as well as the renewal of the mouvables  such as jetties, starting facility with Albano, start tower, etc. also take place.

The Lucerne city parliament has approved the city’s contribution of CHF 2.7 millions to the Rotsee nature arena by 45 votes to 0. This can be seen as a great sign of confidence in those responsible. At the same time, the city parliament approved the building lease agreement with the Rotsee Rowing Centre Foundation. The foundation will be the future owner of the property on Lake Rotsee.

The Naturarena Rotsee association invited all interested parties to an information event on the new rowing centre.

The Federal Council is providing CHF 3 million for the complete renovation of the rowing infrastructure on Lake Rotsee. This decision was made as part of the credit totalling CHF 70 million approved by Parliament last year for the promotion of sports facilities of national importance (NASAK 4). The contribution corresponds to the amount envisaged in the financing concept for the Rotsee nature arena and represents a major relief for those responsible for raising the funds still required.

Young rowers from the Lucerne rowing clubs delivered a rowing sprint to an enthusiastic audience in perfect conditions. Those responsible for the future operation of the Naturarena Rotsee association handed over the keys to the new owner, the Rotsee Rowing Centre Foundation.

The canton of Lucerne is paying CHF 7.1 million to the Rotsee nature arena from the lottery fund. At the same time, the cantonal government has renewed the Rotsee Nature Reserve Regulations. This represents a major step towards the realisation of further renewal projects.

Construction work on the finish tower began with the ground-breaking ceremony on 11 December 2012.

The delegates of the Swiss Rowing Association support the financing of the Naturarena Rotsee with a total of CHF 600,000. They approve the proposal to increase the membership fees over two years.

The Naturarena Rotsee association has submitted the planning application for the finish tower. It wants to prioritise this over the other projects for the overall renovation. A new finish tower was urgently needed as the old one had to be dismantled for safety reasons.

The Naturarena Rotsee association has been honoured with the Tourism Award of the Lucerne Tourism Forum. The award is presented annually to individuals or institutions that have made outstanding contributions to tourism.

The study contract for the buildings of the Rotsee nature arena has been decided. The architecture firm Andreas Fuhrimann, Gabrielle Hächler Architekten AG from Zurich won over the jury with a functional rowing centre that is carefully embedded in the landscape.  architecture competition

The architectural competition required by the city of Lucerne is started with a tour of the Rotsee site. 5 architectural offices were invited to take part in the study competition.

On 10 July 2010, 11.30 a.m., the founding conference of the Naturarena Rotsee association will take place at the Rotsee grandstand.

After the unsuccessful bid for the 2007 Rowing World Championships, questions arose about whether the regatta venue at Lucerne’s Rotsee would continue to hold significance in the international regatta calendar.

In response, the Lucerne Regatta Association collaborated with the Canton and City of Lucerne, the Municipality of Ebikon, and the Swiss Rowing Federation to commission a comprehensive development study for the Rotsee from the company Metron. (Entwicklungsstudie)
